Yesterday Special Olympics Australia launched a four-year partnership with Mazda Foundation who is providing $500,000 for the retention, recruitment and development of Special Olympics coaches across Australia. The launch took place at Dandenong Stadium in Victoria where 120 enthusiastic basketballers from seven clubs had gathered for an inter-club competition. Nicola Stokes, CEO of Special Olympics Australia gratefully accepted a ‘big cheque’ from Martin Benders, Chairperson of Mazda Foundation. Mr Benders said, ‘Mazda Foundation is pleased to partner with Special Olympics Australia for this extended period to develop a coaching program that matches Mazda Foundation’s current focus which is about supporting people with a disability to reach their potential, while shining a light on their ability.’ To view photos from the Mazda Foundation
